PETG - Models, Prototypes, Functional

The next step up from PLA and Recycled PETG. Used when surface finish matters and PLA may not handle the heat. Our second most popular material behind Recycled PETG.

Advantages:

  • Excellent surface finish

  • Fast printing

  • Inexpensive

Disadvantages:

  • Absorbs moisture from atmosphere, must be stored dry

When to use PETG:

  • When a premium, glossy surface finish is desired

  • When color selection is critical

  • General prototyping

  • Light-to-medium duty functional parts

  • Chemical resistance (solvents, fuel)

Our choice: IC3D PETG

IC3D PETG filament is a popular choice for 3D printing due to its excellent balance of strength, flexibility, and ease of use. Made from glycol-modified PET, this filament offers enhanced clarity and durability, making it suitable for a wide range of applications from prototypes to functional parts. It exhibits good layer adhesion, which contributes to its resilience in demanding environments.
